Joe Castro is a Melbourne-based freelance photographer, whose work features regularly in The Age , Sunday Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. He is also a regular contributor to news agencies such as Reuters and Australian Associated Press (AAP). Joe has over 12 years experience as a photojournalist, and has travelled extensively, including through South America, Asia and the UK.

Favouring a documentary style for his personal photographic projects, Joe Castro has produced a large body of work, some of which can be viewed at this web site. In 1998, Joe was a finalist in one of Australia’s most popular documentary photography competitions - the Leica/CCP Documentary Photography awards. His submission featured a photo-essay on the Mexican Zapatista movement. Some of these photographs are featured here.
